You and your pet’s happiness are our number one priority. We would love to schedule an appointment if you feel we are the right fit for you and your furry friend.
Appointment Policy
We see patients by appointment. We also offer a convenient drop-off service. Our staff will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Appointments can be scheduled by phone or through our website. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. When you arrive, we ask that you call to notify us of your arrival, once an exam room is ready, will we come out to get you.
Arrival/Waiting Room Policy
For your protection and the protection of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in our waiting room and exam room. All cats must be in cat carriers or on a leash.
Drop-Off Appointments
Drop-off appointments are available to pet owners whose schedule does not have the flexibility to bring their pet in for an appointment. We ask that they arrive by 8:30 am unless otherwise indicated. For any sick patients, you will be called once your pet has been examined to discuss the findings and proposed treatments. We will then call you when your pet is ready for pick-up.
After Hours Emergencies
There are several local emergency and urgent care centers. Since COVID many reach capacity and need to temporarily stop seeing new patients. Below is a list of centers in Richmond and the surrounding areas. We recommend calling ahead to ensure that you can be seen before going.

Payment Methods
Payments are expected immediately following the appointment. Short Pump Animal Hospital accepts debit and credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We also accept cash payments.
If your pet experiences an emergency and there are unexpected expenses, we offer special arrangements through the CareCredit® program. Upon approval of your application for the program, you will be allowed six monthly installments that require no interest for the first six months and no annual fee.
Prescription Refills
Our veterinarians will prescribe you the best medication for your pet. We will provide you with the medicine if it is in stock. For refills, order the medication online for shipment directly to your home or call ahead to schedule a pickup.
