If your pet is sick or injured, we’re here to help. We offer same-day care for a wide range of concerns—whether it’s a minor issue or something more serious. While we are not an emergency or trauma facility, we can often provide timely care or help stabilize your pet before referral if needed.
Please call us first so we can assess the situation, advise you on next steps, and do our best to get your pet seen quickly—especially if you're an established client. For critical or life-threatening cases, we may refer you to a nearby emergency or specialty hospital to ensure the best possible care.
What We Can Treat Same-Day
A same-day visit is appropriate when your pet is clearly not feeling well and shouldn’t wait several days for an appointment, but is stable enough to be seen in a general practice setting.
We commonly see:
- Vomiting or diarrhea that isn’t improving
- Loss of appetite or sudden low energy
- Ear infections, skin irritation, or itching
- Limping or minor injuries
- Eye redness, squinting, or discharge
- Urinary changes like frequent attempts or discomfort
- Coughing or mild illness symptoms
Early care in these cases can prevent more serious complications and help your pet recover faster.
After Business Hours
We understand that emergency situations can look or feel scary. It is a time of uncertainty and often distress. If a medical emergency occurs after hours, we at Short Pump Animal Hospital urge you not to wait and suggest that you contact either of the following references immediately.
